in Health Care Reform, Health Insurance

Oct 1October 1 is the day many Americans have been waiting for.

If for no other reason then to see how much health insurance is going to cost.

October 1 is the start of open enrollment for state health insurance exchanges (also known as the marketplace) and continues through March 2014.

The earliest effective date of coverage is January 1, 2014.

If your employer does not offer health insurance, you should check out what the health insurance marketplace has to offer.

  • You can choose to go it alone
  • Or work with an insurance broker/agent
  • Or contact an insurance navigator (someone specifically trained on the marketplace)

You can go to Find Local Help to find help in your area.

Below is a general guide I developed for those buying individual health insurance.

May the force be with you.
