Simple & Informative: The Perfect Formula Diet

Perfect Formula Diet BookThe goal of this blog is to keep health care simple and informative. Recently, I worked on a presentation for a client, Janice Stanger, PhD. I know Janice from a past life, but, no, Janice is not paying me for an endorsement of her new book, The Perfect Formula Diet.

In my business, I am a glutton for details. I would rather have tons of data to sift through than have someone provide me with a summary. It’s probably a control thing. Isn’t it always? I have to wrap myself around a project to understand it and write about it.

I’ll be honest, when Janice asked me if I wanted a copy of her book to prepare for the presentation, I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I felt having a copy was essential. On the other hand, I thought I would be wading through tons of dry, scientific data, while wondering how to make it interesting. Well, was I pleasantly surprised – my apologies, Janice, for doubting you.

Simple

The book has plenty of scientific data, but you don’t need a degree to understand it. It is very easy to read and follow. Janice makes great use of analogies and stories to illustrate key points. Not once did I feel the need to go to other sources for an explanation.

Informative

The Perfect Formula Diet walks you through a science-based diet built on rotating six kinds of whole foods. It helps you create what Janice calls your “not meal” plans that are personalized, flexible eating plans. The book teaches you how to listen to your body for improved health. It offers evidence that dispels or clarifies long-held nutrition and health myths. For example, it discusses how calcium really has very little to do with strong bones. Who knew?

Passionate

But, to dismiss this book as just another diet book doesn’t do it justice. I write a lot on my business writing blog, simplystatedbusiness, about sharing your passion. This is not a diet book for Janice. It’s a lifestyle and a commitment – one she lives every day. The Perfect Formula Diet goes beyond its plant-based nutrition to talk about the toxic chemicals in our environment and the choices we make that affect our planet. Don’t worry, it doesn’t preach at you. It does offer food for thought. Sorry, I just couldn’t avoid the pun.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well-written, thoughtful book. That Janice believes in it shows. Even if you are not ready to commit to plant-based nutrition, there are many thought-provoking ideas that make it well worth reading. Janice has a blog, too, at The Perfect Formula Diet, where she shares more information and even recipes. Check it out.
